If we look at all materials for countertops, stone is the grandmother for all of them. Stone is one of the oldest materials that exists, hundreds of millions of years old for granite. A lot of people love to have stone for kitchen because of its solidity, wide range of colors, shapes, tones, and toughness.

Why to incorporate stone for kitchen?

Stone has been incorporated into the kitchen and bathroom for a long time, and it has been the preference for many people because of its durability and beautiful look. With the choice of the right stone, almost any look can be achieved – either you prefer traditions, contemporary or country. By choosing the right stone and color, the whole image and feel of the kitchen or bathroom can be changed.

Stone is usually available into sicknesses: 2cm and 3cm. But at the same time stone can be doubled up on the edges and the countertop will look like 4 cm.  Edge profiles for stone can range from square with eased edges to bullnose to very complicated edges with curves and different shapes.

Finishes of stone range from rough, which would be recommended mainly for backsplashes, to honed, which is soft and smooth and not very reflective finish for the stone. Polished finishes are a very common and they provide smooth as glass and highly reflective surfaces.

Depending on the type of stone it’s can be durable, soft or hard, modern or traditional looking, heat resistant, or resistant to scratching, but at the same time nothing is perfect. Connor tops still have to be maintained and taken care off, and if they are not properly sealed, they can stain. The sealer type and maintenance schedule depend on the stone.

Some stone can be expensive, so it is important to take good care of it, and follow recommendations of how to maintain that particular stone properly. And if everything is done and installed the right way, there should not be any problems and it will provide a beautiful look to the kitchen or bathrooms for many years to enjoy!
