Granite Countertops – Clean Properly and Efficiently

How to Clean Granite.

Granite is a very popular choice for many homeowners, but some people are not quite sure how to clean it. If you stained natural stone, don’t worry. It can be cleaned most of the time, but in order to remove the stain, first you need to determine what kind of stain you have, as that it will determine the process of removal.

Since stone is porous, you can sometimes remove the stain by reversing the staining process. Try to remove the stain as soon as possible. The longer you leave it, the more it will penetrate into the stone. In order to determine what kind of stain it is, ask the following questions:

What’s the color?
How long has it been there?
Are there plants near it?
Where is located?

Organic stains, Crystallization Coatings, Copper Stains, Biological Stains

Mineral Spirits
MiraSeal Mira Strip
Methyl Chloride

How to Clean Organic Stains

Clean with one of the following:

MiraSeal Mira Clean #1
MiraSeal Tile & Grout Cleaner
MiraSeal Liquid Poultice

Poultice using the same methods as suggested for an Oil Based Stain.

How to Clean Copper Stains
Use Poultice with one of the following:
Ammonia Chloride
Ammonia Hydroxide
How to Clean Biological Stains
Clean with one of the following:

MiraSeal Mira Clean #1
MiraSeal Tile & Grout Cleaner
MiraSeal Liquid Poultice
Diluted Ammonia
Bleach

If it is Epoxy: Clean with MiraSeal Epoxy Grout Film Remover, undiluted on all surfaces.

Please Remember:
Sometimes chemicals that are necessary for stain removal will remove the finish on polished marble, limestone, terrazzo and travertine. As a result, re-polishing may be necessary.

Please, remember that in order to avoid stains in Granite, it’s best to properly seal it. Stone Spirit Inc offers 1 year or 15 year sealer, and also it is very important to continue to maintain the granite. For example Stone Spirit sell 3 in 1 granite cleaner and protector.
