Countertop Edges

There are many choices of Countertop Edges

Countertop Edges – the shape of the edge that the granite is going to be cut. While purchasing the countertop, the first big choice is the color of the stone, and then the edge profile. Some standard  edges are included in the square-foot or lineal-foot price of the countertop. More decorative or complex edges can be added at an additional cost, which is usually nominal considering the investment you are making in the countertops.

The shape of the countertop will affect the look, cost, and cleanability. The edge will affect the look and feel of the granite countertop. Edges can be simple or complex with or without curves, sharp or rounded angles.

Standard Edges and Upgraded Edges

Eased Edge

The most basic countertop edge is the eased edge or straight edge It is a squared edge, with only a very slight bevel and it takes the sharpness from the edges. A popular modification to this is the quarter round, where the top edge is rounded off. Another possibility the double quarter round, where both the top and bottom edges are rounded.

Half Bullnose Edge

Bullnose is a variation where the top edge is rounded more dramatically, and the bottom is not rounded.

Full Bullnose Edge

Full bullnose converts the edge of the countertop to a perfect half-circle. So the edge is rounded on top and bottom.

Stone Spirit Inc. offers standard edges, such as eased or straight, half bullnose, full bullnose, and bevel, as well as upgraded edges: waterfall, ogee, hollywood bevel, demi bullnose, 1 inch bevel and others.
